SNAKEBITE
SnakeBite was formed in the summer of 2003 after bass player, Dave
McVeigh, saw the legendary Whitesnake in concert at the Point Theatre in Dublin. With a capacity crowd of over 3000 watching
Whitesnake, Dave decided there was definitely a market for a tribute band dedicated to these masters of rock, and who better to form the band than loyal Whitesnake fans as indeed is everyone in SnakeBite
Fronting the band on lead vocals is John `HARV' Harbinson (a local rock legend in his own right). With many years experience on the local scene as well as overseas, he has enjoyed great success with his own projects, including `DEN OF THIEVES' and `EMERALD', a band signed to EMI in Japan and having recorded two CDs to great success in the Far East. On keyboards we have Conleth "THE COUNT" Overton who has played with such bands as Ashanti, Glam Slam and Bad Reputation. The two guitar players, Kev Harris and Paul Welton have been gigging for over 15 years with local bands such as
Tinman, Killing Susan and Native Sun and are two of the best guitarists Ireland has to offer. The rhythm section consists of Glenn Gray on drums, who has played with the likes of
Tinman, Tekruze and Native Sun. Glenn is definitely the powerhouse section of the lineup. The other half of the rhythm section (bass) is played by Dave
McVeigh. Having played for over 15 years with the likes of Bad Reputation, Inferno, Willie Byrne Band and Speedo Wilson as well as a recent Thin Lizzy tribute band, he is well at home playing in a Whitesnake tribute band.
The accompanying DVD shows the band in action playing in the Empire Music hall, Belfast, SnakeBite's second time playing there to a capacity audience. While the Video footage (in typical bootleg style!) was taken from one loyal fan from only one location on camcorder all night it still captures the energy, enthusiasm and talent that is SNAKEBITE. For copyright reasons it has been edited to show chosen highlights of an exceptionally successful evening.
